Macau work entry documents and the Blue Card

The Blue Card follows an employer-led quota and entry process. Treat each step as a separate requirement and do not make travel plans until the employer confirms the document status.

From quota to entry

After a quota is approved, the employer and worker prepare the entry-for-work documentation and the required stay-permission materials. The sequence matters because each document depends on the prior approval.

The Blue Card

The non-resident worker identity card records the authorised employment arrangement. It is linked to the employer and role; it is not a general work permit for other jobs.

Keep documents consistent

Your name, role, employer, passport or travel document and contract should be consistent across all filings. Tell the employer immediately if a document changes or expires.

Confirm before travelling

Use the employer's verified instructions and official authority information for timing. Do not rely on an agent's informal message as proof that you may start work.
